The Cat Lady Pounces On Leukemia

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Tuesday - November 13th.

The past two days have been difficult from an emotional standpoint. First, waiting on the next biopsy report is nerve wracking. It's hard keeping the negative "what if's" out of your mind. We are hopeful for a positive pathology report next Monday; BUT "what if"..... Our hospital stay is already approaching four weeks on Thursday. The days seem to drag by slowly. We all just want to go home; BUT we also know that we want to be in remission. So, we put our trust in the professionals at Moffitt, knowing that they too want us out of here as soon as possible. Adding to the emotional distress is the fact that we had to put our cat of nineteen years, Granite, to sleep on Monday. He lived a good life, but in recent months had lost half his body weight, and we decided it was just time to let him go. Those of you with pets understand how difficult it is to lose a pet. Jan did have another precautionary chest Cat-scan last night. They like to run these every two weeks. We also learned that they will try to move up the biopsy date from next Tuesday to this Friday. We need good numbers from this report!

I am sending positive vibes your way, or negative vibes, whichever is better for your pathology report. =) I am actually in Atlanta right now, so Elaine and I are combining our forces of love to send your way. Adam mailed a package to you from IL yesterday so it should arrive in a few days and I hope it brings you a little happiness. Love, Amy

Jan and Tony, this is Jessica. I am honored to be a friend of Kim's. Kim has been keeping me updated on your progress, and you have been in my prayers. I am so sorry about your Granite (I too am a cat lady). I know that as God created every living being he cares for every one of them and your Granite is in kitty heaven, soaking in the warmest, brightest sun and chasing birds.

Jan, I don't know know if you remember me (probably not), but we graduated from AHS together. I just want you to know that you are in my prayers. I have learned more about the power of prayer in the last six years or so than ever before, and I know that Goad has a plan for us all. Haven't made it to any reunions, but I remember your spirit from high school. I know you can beat this-hang tough.

Hi, Jan-Jan: You shared with me when your mom got you your first pair of stockings, and now you're sharing this news with all of us. You meant so much to me as we were growing up in Avondale together - I wish I could be right there to lend a more physical support. Please know that I am praying for you and your wonderful family and I will stay tuned, anxious to read of the good news that I am sure will be coming your way. Love, Ellie Eidson Spiceland

Dear Jan,
I hate that you are traveling this road, dear girl. It appears that you have lots of loving support to walk with you, and now you have a whole group of AHS '69ers, too!!
It is Friday and I am praying to our mighty God for healing, and good results from the test today. We will be looking for an update.
Love,
Mary Glyn Murphy Weyant
